Mara Cloud Privacy Policy
This privacy policy applies to all online services of Mara Cloud. We are committed to protecting your personal data and processing it in full compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Kenyan data protection law.

How We Process Personal Data
We save and use your personal data only to process your orders and to get in touch with you. If you subscribe to our customer newsletter, we also use your email address to send it to you.
Who We Forward Your Data To
External service providers may have access to your data while assisting us in providing our services. In certain cases, third parties such as government authorities, external consultants, or our business partners may receive your data. This may occur in the following cases:
- Domain registration: If we register a domain for you, we provide the required data to the corresponding registration service provider.
- Payment via credit card: Credit card payments are processed by an external payment service provider.
- Debt collection agency: If you fail to pay invoices on time, your necessary data may be passed to an external debt collection agency.
- Other categories of recipients: State authorities and courts as required by law.
What Categories of Data Do We Collect?
Every time you visit our website, your IP address and other information are saved in anonymized form. If you register an account, your contact information will be stored. If you order products, your address and payment information will also be stored.
Registration data
When you register, we collect your name, address, telephone number, payment information, and email address. If you pay by credit card, we do not store raw card numbers or verification codes — only a pseudo card number to facilitate future payments within your account. This pseudo card number cannot be used outside our website and is not identical to your credit card number. We delete all registration data within 24 months, upon account deletion, or once the statutory retention period expires. To delete your account, email dataprocess@mara.cloud.
Email addresses
If you subscribed to our newsletter, were invited to Mara Cloud, or requested automated messages from Mara, we store your email address. We use the double opt-in method to confirm newsletter subscriptions. Your email address will be deleted once you delete your account or unsubscribe. You can revoke consent at any time by clicking the "Unsubscribe" link in any newsletter.
Server log files
When you visit our website, we automatically store your IP address (in anonymized form), browser type and version, and the time, date, and referring website. Your anonymized IP address cannot be used to identify you personally.
Forum
If you register for our online discussion forum, we save your username and email address. These are deleted upon account deletion.
Website analysis
We use a self-hosted open-source web analysis tool that uses cookies to analyze how you use our website. No data is transmitted to third parties. You can prevent cookie generation by changing your browser settings, though some website functionality may be affected.

We process your data exclusively in our data centers in Kenya.
Using the "Ask AI" Chatbot
General information
Mara uses the "Ask AI" chatbot to improve customer service. The chatbot is operated by kapa.ai and uses technology like ChatGPT in the background. Answers are based entirely on information that Mara has created itself (e.g., Mara Docs). We may update this policy periodically as the chatbot is improved.
Scope and legal basis for data processing
The chatbot collects and uses any information you provide in order to answer your questions. You are not required to provide personal data. A PII detection tool automatically identifies and flags personal data (names, email addresses, etc.) entered in the chatbot, prompting you to rephrase your query without personal data.
Important note: Despite best efforts, the PII tool cannot completely guarantee recognition of all personal data. If your request requires personal data, please contact us directly at support@mara.cloud instead.
Data recipients / data transfer
Your data may be transferred to and processed on a server from kapa.ai Inc., located in the USA. The chatbot uses the enterprise version of ChatGPT, which does not process personal data.
Data storage and processing
The chatbot stores the complete chat history and session timestamp with kapa.ai after processing. It will not ask for or store personal data.
Your rights as a user
You have the right to request information about your stored data at any time, and the right to have your data deleted or its processing restricted. Contact us at dataprocess@mara.cloud.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to make adjustments to this policy. We will notify you of significant changes. We recommend reviewing this policy periodically to stay up to date.
